Our EVERYBODY GARDENS community program & NATIVE SEEDLINGS SALE is switching to WEDNESDAYS from next week, 6/3/26! Different day, same time, same place: 10am-2pm behind Poppin Tags Free Store in Russellton, PA!

May 14, 2026

We had a chilly and rainy start to the season! We started weeding the beds and planted yarrow, parsely, and oregano. Some potato leaves are starting to show. We also tidied up some seedlings that had been left by a very generous donor - thank you so much! It will take a lot of work to get the garden cleaned up, and there is lots of space for new flowers, veggies, and herbs.

Our native seedlings station featured foxglove beardtongue, golden alexanders, dense blazing stars, boxelder, black cherries, and more. Pop by next week to grab your seedlings at discounted prices!

We had beautiful weather and got a lot done! Special thanks to our volunteer Bailey, a Fox Chapel High School student! Bailey weeded, tidied pots, and sowed parsley, basil, cilantro, chervil, lavender, and sunflowers!

Our seedling sale featured lots of wingstem and swamp milkweed, and we even put out the soil & rock exploration station for the little ones.

We're cleaning up the garden one tire bed at a time! This week, we got rid of some aggressive thistles and bittercress, and planted a mix of wildflowers. We continued to hill our potatoes and tidied up a few donated house plants that needed lots of extra love. Dense Blazing Stars were a hit at our Native Seedlings Sale Station! These beauties will grow up to 5 ft tall, with gorgeous purple flowers! We only have a few left - come and grab them before they're gone!

Spot the secret visitor! An American Toad escaped the heat in one of our mini meadow starter trays :-)

Our potatoes @ Russellton Community Garden are growing like crazy and the thyme is now in bloom - I'm sure the pollinators are saying Thank You 🐝🦋🪰🪲

Our EVERYBOODY GARDENS community gardening program @ Russellton Community Garden is happening every Wednesday 10am-2pm. Today we tidied donations and sowed zinnias. Next week, we'll need helpers to sow some veggies and fruit!! Drop by and join in!
